Ibiza – More Than Just a Party Island

Ibiza provides one of my favourite childhood/teenage holiday memories, I remember my parents worrying beforehand that the last minute deal they discovered to the “party capital” of the world was a mistake, and that heading to San Antonio would be terrible as a family holiday destination. How wrong they were…it turned out to be one of the best holidays we had, with San Antonio catering as much for families as it does for the club goers that flock to this wonderful island year after year.

Particularly in the Bay area, away from the notorious West End, the majority of Ibiza hotels san antonio are aimed at family package holidays with the usual exceptional facilities us Brits have became accustomed to on Spanish holidays, although it’s never a surprise to find the odd group of guys and girls in some of these hotels too who have discovered it’s better and cheaper to find accommodation away from the main strip (like I did on my second visit to Ibiza a few years later).

There is also a lot more to Ibiza away from the ever popular San Antonio, with a fantastic array of Ibiza family hotels dotted around the majority of this jewel of the Mediterranean. The northeast of the island in particular are ideal for family holidays, with quieter beaches, country walks, and all in all a taste of the more traditional side of Ibiza.

Santa Eularia d’es Riu is a popular resort for families and those looking for a more relaxed holiday, surrounded by a number of beautiful beaches, this up and coming town has everything you could want for a summer getaway. Here there is certainly a more chilled atmosphere, with a slightly slower pace of life than you get in San Antonio.

Ibiza really does cater for everyone, alongside the obvious attractions of some of the world’s greatest nightclubs and best international dj’s for the younger crowd, you have stunning UNESCO recognised beaches and countryside, water parks, family orientated bars and restaurants offering entertainment, and plethora of hotels to choose from. So do not be put off by Ibiza’s reputation, make your mind up for yourself with a visit here and I am sure you won’t be left disappointed.
