Where to Snorkel in Ibiza

The Balearic island of Ibiza offers the snorkeling enthusiast a superb chance to discover the beautiful marine ecosystem of the Mediterranean.  It is not necessary to go too deep, as the waters of Ibiza are full of exquisitely colourful marine life just below the surface. The luminosity and visibility of the water is excellent.

From May until August, the waters of the 200 km stretch of the Ibiza coastline range from 18 up to 26 degrees celsius.  The climate is therefore ideal for watersport activities.  Here are just a few snorkeling sites out of the hundreds that are available for you to try on your Ibiza holidays: Playa Espagueti is a natural bay that is perfect for snorkeling and swimming.  Dolphins and whales can also be seen from this beautiful spot. S’Tanyol is a small and secluded bay that is very much off the beaten track.  The clear water is a haven for snorkelers.

The water can be entered more easily near the fishermen’s huts. Cala Mastella is a tiny cove close to San Carlos and is a prime area for snorkeling.  The rocky waters are lined with pebbles rather than sand, which ensures that the waters stay crystal clear and never cloud. Cala Salada is an unspoiled bay that has a stunningly natural beauty.  It is set on the outskirts of a beautiful pine forest.

The surrounding rocks are idyllic perches for anyone wanting to dive into the water.  The waters are pristine and overflowing with stunning aquatic life. Punta Galera is a collection of plateaus and jutting rocks with a raw and natural beauty.  The clear, indigo-coloured waters are ideal for swimming and snorkeling.

Wherever you decide to snorkel on the island of Ibiza you can be assured of a delightful glimpse into the exquisite underwater world of the Mediterranean sea.
